She asked if we could plant the extra seeds left in the envelopes in the back yard. "Oh Als," I said "I am not a planter. I kill things. I promise if we plant something, it won't grow." She was so disappointed in me and my lack of confidence. She asked repeatedly for days. My answer was the same.
Finally she asked Raleigh. He jumped on board immediately. He is so "half glass full" all the time and ALWAYS thinks that every thing will work out. "Go choose which ones you'd like to plant and we will put them here" he said, pointing to a delightfully shady and perfect spot under the window.
She chose pumpkins. The timing was perfect. The package said for October pumpkins you need to plant in late April, early May. Which it was. Well, here we are nearing the end of September and the weather is cooling and the harvest decor is coming out of storage and BY GOLLY we have 8 HOME GROWN pumpkins to put on our porch this year.
Way to go you two. You planted and believed Heavenly Father would help them to grow and he sure did. And "Negative Nelly" has once again learned her lesson... with Raleigh, nothing is impossible. You better be careful or you just may turn me into an optimist. What would that be like?

They are darling pumpkins! And a darling story! Remember Martha Stewart did not have 5 kids! How you even have the time to take the photo amazes me.Hugs Karen~
Sophia... You always make me feel all the way better. I think I will start to use the "I have 5 kids" excuse for everything starting today. It could really get me out of a lot of unpleasant tasks :)
The pumpkins are so darling and even cuter in real life!! Good Job Allie (and Raleigh), I think we have a potential farmer in the family. Next year you'll have to try a few more veggies and then share with the rest of us.
That is so awesome! They turned out great! I know what you mean Kaci, the thought of trying to grow things myself makes me laugh because I know they would die within a week!
Wow- those are pretty impressive. Look how festive you all are. Way to be persistant Alli.
