My oh my... what good kids we have

So... Anyone who knows me knows that I am not the kind of mother that goes around bragging about her kids. I know I have good kids. I know that I have good looking kids. I know that I have talented kids. I believe that if your kids are really talented, smart or good looking enough, people will just notice and you shouldn't have to point it out to them. I think that the mothers that are going around cramming their kids down our throats must not be confident enough in their prodigy to let us figure their strong suits out for ourselves. I think that my job is to let MY CHILDREN know how amazing I think they are and not all the ladies in the ward and neighborhood.

Having said that... do you want to hear how amazing my kids are? On Wednesday, Morgan came home from school with the flu. Yes, the flu we have all been trying to avoid. Raleigh and I had tickets to the Jazz game that night and so we asked if she wanted us to stay home. She said "no, I will probably just be sleeping most of the day" So we left. Every so often I would get a text from her telling me about the most recent barfing and how she made it to the toilet and felt much better. Anyway, the next morning Raleigh and I both had to be to work at 6:00 am (a rare, but a once a month occurrence). So on the way home from the game, we discussed the plight of Allie getting herself up and ready and on the bus without the help of Morgan. We decided that we would allow Allie to stay home too. So when we got home, we told Morgan to just sleep in and rest and that Allie was going to stay home too and she would be there to help her get a drink if she needed it etc. So the next morning, I got off work at 10:00 and rushed home to be with my little girls, one would be sick and the other one would probably be acting naughty.

But they were not home. I was so upset. I drove to the school and asked the office if Morgan was in class. She was. So I asked her "what are you doing here? Are you insane?" She said, "no mom, when I woke up, I felt perfectly fine. I woke Allie up and got us ready. But I was really hungry so I made us some cereal and we missed the bus, so I called Sister Gale and she drove us to school. Don't worry, we were only 7 minutes late."

What kid does this??? What kid, when given the chance and is EXPECTED to stay home from school does not seize the opportunity? What kid gets up, gets ready, helps her sister get ready, makes breakfast and then calls around to get a ride to school because they missed the bus?
A FREAKIN' AMAZING KID that's who. And she is mine. The question that one must ask herself when she has an amazing kid like this is "what kind of crappy mother am I?" Holy cow. By absolutely no valuable effort on my part this little girl is going to grow up and RUN THIS NATION. And I will most likely be bragging about it.

This is such a cute/darling post, another one of my very favorites...and, of course, I agree that you do have amazing children because I have amazing grandchildren!! Morgan really does have it all together, along with her brother, Brayden, who is also to DIE FOR!! Allie seems to be coming around too (miracle of miracles!!) And then there's Quincey who wins the heart of everyone she meets (except her siblings). You have done a fabulous job with your children and, you're right, it isn't necessary for you to point it out to others, however, that doesn't prevent ME from pointing it out to anyone who will listen and believe me I DO!!
