We knew he was amazing at video game playing because he spent hours and hours perfecting that. We knew that sports might not be his thing. And so when he came home in the 6th grade and said "I'd like to be in the school band," I was so overwhelmed with excitement I ran straight to to local music store to pick up an instrument. He wanted to play the sax. I think mostly because it is almost the biggest instrument one can play and he wouldn't appear so little?? The only thing I knew about the sax was Kenny G played that instrument and we all know how super cool Kenny G is. Not to mention... foxy.
I rented a tenor sax for $26.00 a month, thinking this would last a month or two. He took it out of the case and within 10 minutes was playing song I could recognize. His band teacher, Mr. Winslow was nothing short of a musical genius and taught him correct timing and pushed him to practice and really challenged him. And at every parent teacher conference told me that he was really talented and could be really good.
Fast forward to the 9th grade. A FRESHMAN playing tenor sax in the junior and senior orchestra just nailed his proficiency exam with a 96/100... landing him the position of SECOND CHAIR, and stunning his new teacher and juniors and seniors who are wondering who this kid in the Corn Pops shirt is and are trying to find out if he is the instructor's son or something.
Sadly, I must confess... I haven't paid much attention to his saxophone playing. I attend all his concerts and take photos and tell him that I totally heard him above everyone else, but I didn't know that I was supposed to be bragging about him. He is just so quiet and so..."don't fuss over me too much" that I just didn't know. But today I will. My under the radar son, with next to no fashion sense and a tendency to be on the high end of the LAZY SCALE is with very little effort, in my opinion, the second best musician in the Westlake High School Orchestra. And let's face it, he is WAAAAAY hotter than that Kenny G fellow. So get with it boy... get rich and buy your mama a mansion.

That's my boy!! So cute and super talented too! Can't wait to attend one of the concerts at the new, big, state of the art high school and see my talented freshman, state of the art grandson play.
Can I just tell you that in the Hyde's eyes... that boy is second to none!!! He is our biggest hero. We think he is absolutely amazing... even if he is sitting on the couch watching TV... no one does it better than Brayden. BTW- Bray- I LOVE the Corn Pops T-shirt. Your fashion sense in alright by me. Keep up the good work with the sax. Love you and miss you all.
Hey I wondered who "Billy" Boy Blue was...
