Looking Forward...

I am stealing an idea from my mom's blog. I thought it was cute. She asked her readers to share what they are looking forward to and so... so shall I.

1. Of course and without a doubt I am looking forward to the birth of our little daughter the most. I can't wait to see what a combination of Raleigh and me looks like. I can't wait to see the look on his face when he holds her for the first time. I can't wait to watch him change her diaper, comfort her when she is upset and sleep with her on his chest. I am NOT looking forward to the actual birth however. Not that I am not by now a TOTAL pro, and needles and pain don't scare me and I know exactly what to expect and I don't think there will be any surprises, but I am to say the very least... 1000% LESS than thrilled to be in "that" embarrassingly vulnerable state, with it all hanging out. As if to say... here it is the sickest and grossest part of me, take a look strange doctor and several nurses and fairly new husband. Just take a gander at this and then just try and wipe that image from your mind.

2. I am looking forward to football season, Saturday afternoon games, Sunday night games, Bowl games, lots of weekend visits from St. George BYU fans, the smell of Fall in the air, cool crisp breezes blowing through my open windows and friendly competition and a few side bets with my husband. I need a massage or two, come on Cougs... don't let me down again this year.

3. I am looking forward to school starting. Not that this summer has been too bad, but I enjoy the routine of kids coming and going with a purpose. I like the stability of homework before dinner, baths by 8:30, in bed by 9:00 and NOT HAVING TO ENTERTAIN their uncreative minds on a daily basis and feel the guilt that "this summer vacation sucks and there is NOTHING to do" I like being able to say "nope, it's a school night" and having some quiet hours to myself. OH MAN... I am forgetting that I will have a newborn huh? What is that like again? I have forgotten. AAARRRGGGHHH.

4. I am looking forward to another perfect year of complete and total marital bliss, strengthening our family, Sunday night dinners, holiday traditions, little vacations, millions of laughs, losing 35 pounds, fitting into my jeans again (if the stars align and all the praying works) eating spicy foods, ketchup, salad dressing, Chex Mix and all things yummy without backlash and a healthy and happy baby.

5. And of course, spiritual events in our not too distant future that mean way too much to me to talk about publicly. That will be the best part of all.

What a great future I have ahead of me. Who would have ever thought that I would EVER say those words or think those thoughts? What a great time to be me.

What are you looking forward to???

I LOVED this post, Kaci. It's fun to look forward and also to be happy in the present which I know you are. I love football season too except it means that Christmas is close and the holidays are always so stressful. Maybe having a new baby in the family this year will help! Thanks for sharing all your thoughts, well maybe not all, that whole giving birth part, I could have done without...but the others, so fun!

I loved reading this post! You're so funny...and while I'm a rookie, I am scared of the same thing that you mentioned when delivering. Ew.:)

How fun. I am excited for most of those same things. Especially, to see your little girl. I can't wait to meet her. However, I am not sure if football season and marital bliss go hand in hand in your household. I know you are a closet UTE fan. It is the only explanation that makes sense. I'll bet the blood in your veins is PURPLE!!!!
Happy futures to you!

I loved your post...and I copied you! Truthfully I have always wanted to be just like you...except PREGNANT! But soon enough you won't be either and we will have a new little girl in the family with red hair and freckles...who will also be hilarious! I can't wait to see her!
Can't wait to come up for BYU football visits either! GO COUGS!
My next goal is to bring the whole family around to the joys of NASCAR...actually I still can't quite figure out why and how I sit through each race...they really do just go around and around!
See ya soon!
