For the most part, I have considered myself a lucky mother in the area of injuries with my kids. We have had no broken bones and last year, not one of us made a trip to the doctor for anything.
Enter 2009...

Allie had a little growth on her hand. I thought the procedure would be a quick in and out, easy deal. I made the appointment with our favorite St. George doctor, Scott, who fixes EVERYTHING. Little did I know the ordeal would take 30 minutes and 10 shots and an ace bandage for heavens sake. She was so brave to watch the entire thing and only shed a few tears... Nana, on the other hand, who went with us was curled up in a ball in the corner. And hasn't been the same since.

Here is Morgan, with strep throat and super gross germs in the midst of Swine Flu Season. She was not happy to wear this beautiful mask, which I think brings out her eyes. But at the very least, we didn't have to smell her super bad breath. Sorry Mo, but it's the truth. Everyone knows throat ailments cause nasty halitosis.

And finally... let's not leave Quincey out! Quin has lots and lots of skills... coordination is not one of them however. One time at Target she tripped twice, fell once and knocked 3 things off the shelf. Anyway... for some reason, she tried her hand at SNOWBOARDING. And as you can see, the good doctors had to transport her and her blown out knee down the mountain on a sled. Look at the looky loo in the background. "What's going on over there?" he's wondering.
And then there's Brayden, who ditched school three weeks ago to go long boarding with his buddies and ate 17 yards of asphalt. Serves him right, I say. But he had some delicious road rash and what might have been a sprained wrist. No pic for that one though because he tried to hide it from me so he wouldn't get caught. What a guy.
I was thinking maybe we should all just stay home for a while and sit quietly on the couch. What d' ya think?

Oh geez, I broke out in a sweat just looking at the pictures of Allie...not good memories! She was pretty brave, however and I think she really likes looking at those holes in her hand, and the ace bandage, of course, is to DIE for!! I have no comment about those other kids (except for...shame on you, Brayden!!) I think the couch sounds like a very good idea!!
P.S. I didn't mention about how cute Scott is and how lucky we are to now have a picture of him!! Plus Quincey's incident reminded me of her Aunt Kori, who took a ride in an ambulance to the hospital on the first or second day of our family houseboat vacation to Lake Havasu and then, for the rest of the week, could not get in the water due to all the stitches in her leg. Oh the joys of motherhood AND grandmotherhood!! Happy Mother's Day on Sunday, you definitely deserve a happy day!
Kaci- This is a voice from your past!! Wow, I can't believe I found you. I have thought of you so often. I relate stories about my days in YW in CA (I am in YW again and I love it!) Check out my blog at glasmannfamily.blogspot.com!
