On Tuesday, both Morgan and Brayden had their big Christmas Concerts. Both were very important and both were at 7:00. "What do we do?" I thought. "I need to attend both or the child who's concert I miss will need therapy as an adult and will blame every bad thing that happens to them in their life on the fact that their mom missed their concert in 2008". But I am only one mom. So, I layed in bed on Monday night and devised a plan. And it just had to work. Here's how it went...
1. Morgan got a ride to the school with a friend while I dropped Brayden off at his school.
A. Oh no... I didn't account for an accident on the world's most frustrating highway.
B. And did I mention this is the only road in and out of the area.
C. And did I mention that it was 6:00, the worst time possible to be on this particular road
because 4,938 people are coming home from work
D. And what should have taken me 20 minutes, took 87.
2. I frantically run into the house. Put the chicken in the oven, grab the camera and drive
100 miles an hour to the Elementary School.
3. I listen to 3 darling songs. Take 7 pictures. Wave and blow kisses, leave poor Raleigh there
alone and run to my car
4. I drive way too fast again, down the back side of Saratoga Springs, almost hit a deer, zipped
in and out of traffic and avoided the accident by sneaking through Smith's parking lot
5. I arrive at the Junior High just in time to hear the Willowcreek Beginning Band which sounds
a little like a goose slaughtering farm and could be used by the government as some sort
of torture method. "Dang it," I thought "I should have driven a little slower."
6. Then... ahhhh the Wind symphony, which is the band that Brayden is in... Such an improve-
ment. I could hear his part perfectly because I was watching his cheek puff in and out and
he didn't miss a note. What a talented little guy.
7. Shoot the chicken was burned when I finally got home...
BUT...
It was a success. Both kids felt supported. Both kids did really well. And both kids will grow up to be well adjusted adults who better at some point say... "My mom was at every event that I performed at. And that is why I am a successful and very rich doctor"

You are a very funny mom, checking blogger every hour on the hour. At least I know someone loves me and cares about my life's events.
I certainly do...love you and care about your life's events and the events of your children and husband, etc. What a darling story, I always knew you would be a perfect mother and you haven't disappointed me, not one day!! I wonder if you remember that your mom was to everything you ever did, well in case you don't, she was... and that is why you have grown up to be such a well adjusted, successful adult!! Merry Christmas, keep up the good work!
Oh my gosh, I didn't comment on my darling, talented grandchildren. Aren't they just the cutest, I love them more than words can say!!
you're so funny and super woman too!
Wow that was funny! I feel the same way about attending my kids' events.

I only drove on that road twice going to your place and I know exactly what you mean about the traffic! I couldn't even imagine if there was an accident. Anyway good for you. You get the super-mom award!
