Oh how I love Halloween

I can fairly confidently say that of all the holidays that we feel forced to celebrate, Halloween is my least favorite. The entire week before, I spend hours and countless dollars gathering up costume paraphernalia and gadgets and gizmos and this and that. Then the big day arrives. And now because we need to wear our costumes to school, we must all arise at the crack of dawn (and we are talking like 5:30) so that we can transform perfectly good children into all kinds of shady characters. Make up is applied for days. We tie bows and ribbons here and there. Girls turn into boys. Boys wear mascara and eyeliner and mom loses her ever lovin' mind. Then we must attend school parades and class parties and there is so much sugar happening that by the time they get home from school they are literally bouncing off the walls.

And then, my friends, the real fun begins. Trick or Treating or shall we call it "The Never ending WHINE FEST" should be stopped. We walk from house to house gathering a bag of everyone's favorite TOOTSIE ROLLS (which is by far the nastiest candy they make and none of us ever intend to eat even if we were in dire need of sugar) and then it begins... "I am itchy"... "these tights are twisted"... "my bag is too heavy, will you carry it?"... "my feet hurt"... "my legs hurt"... "it's cold"... and my favorite "Can we just go home".... Well HELL yes, we can go home. Get the pumpkins off the porch, turn out the lights and GO TO BED.

I swear every year, I promise my self that next year I will not participate and yet, just like giving birth, you forget the pain and misery until you are smack dab in the middle of it again. Well, it's over, Halloween is over, joy of joys. Give me a TOOTSIE ROLL.

Kaci, I am so proud to be your mother!! These are my sentiments exactly...I wonder where you got your "tude"!! This was hysterical but so TRUE!! The costumes are to die for...so darling!! I LOVE the Kissing Booth!! Morgan is a perfect Minnie, maybe that can be her nickname. I thought Q was you at first, she is so tall! And Allie, Raleigh should be a makeup artist...maybe at the MAC booth in Nordstroms! JK Also, thanks for your comment on my blog...I really needed that, thanks for missing us. We sure do miss you...I think I'll have a Tootsie Roll and shed a tear or two.

Halloween sucks A!!!
Days of getting costumes together, thw whining, etc...just for an hour of walking around the neighborhood with complete anxiety over who is really under that scarey evil mask and claiming to know you...and then sugar filled kids for a week after! I swear...where did this holiday come from?? It is not on my favorite list!
The costumes are darling though...good job you! i love the kissing booth idea...super funny...and clever.
Can't wait to see you guys this week.
Love and miss you

Well, Josh I have four Old Navy Halloween Bags full with your name on them. You may be the only Tootsie Roll lover that I know. I think that the thing that infuriates me about the tootsie roll hand out is that it screams... I'm too cheap to buy the good stuff for your kid and now you as a parent of the trick or treating child can't say... "let me see if that Snickers with Almonds is poisonous... yep I think it is... I better get rid of it for you"
