I HATE Direct TV. I signed up for Direct TV on the 2nd of September. I was told at the time that we would have to wait until the 13th of September for installation. This was due to the fact that this is the busiest time of the year what with football happening. I too love football and would like to watch it, but I guess since I didn't have a choice, I would have to wait. And so I did... patiently. Do you know how hard it is with three kids and no tv for two weeks??
So the big day arrived. The installer was scheduled to come out between 8-12. Now... I must digress for just a moment... this 13th day of September is the same day as the BYU/UCLA game that I received tickets for from my boss for good behavior and they were in the 20th row on the 40th yard line and kick off was at 1:30. Several members of my family were here actually staying with us and we had to send them on their way because DIRECT FREAKIN TV was still not here at 12:30.
Finally we left. And our punctual installer shows up at 3:00, sees that there is no one here over 18 and so says "I cannot do the installation without an adult here" so we leave the game at half time (the game being a MASSIVE blowout anyway... the biggest slaughter UCLA has had in 80 years... but again I digress) and we drive home. And to our surprise... he's gone. And "MAYBE he'll be back later"
Well of course he didn't come back and so I called Direct TV in some sort of violent rage and had what some people might view as a Massive Mental Breakdown on Brian the Supervisor. Because, in my defense... Brian's solution to my dilemma was to reschedule me for SEPTEMBER 26th. That is 24 days without TV my friends. I then released 4 weeks of pent up frustration and stress out on this poor boy. I yelled like one of those lunatic customers we sometimes encounter at Best Buy Customer Service. I said things that didn't make sense and made threats I couldn't possibly carry out I think that I may have called him a name and said something about his mother and then... I started crying and handed the phone to Raleigh, who calmly smoothed things over with the I'm sure traumatized Brian and somehow magically managed to get an installer out to our house at 6:00 pm.
Well... I don't know what to say... It was supposed to be a wonderful afternoon with my family who I don't get to see very much anymore, a fun lunch at Fuddruckers, laughing and good times and instead I now have to be committed to a funny farm, not to mention I think that my name will be floating around the DTV office for at least a week and Brian most likely jotted down a couple of notes in my file that could hurt me in my DTV future. I promise at some point that boy will add on a pay per view or two that I never watched but now must pay for. And I suppose, I will deserve it

Oh my gosh, this was the BEST blog day ever! I loved every word you wrote and even though I am familiar with most of the stories, I enjoyed reading them like they were new to me. I didn't know the outcome of the DTV day, however, and it sounds awful...I'm so sorry...but I'm happy to hear that you're all hooked up now and maybe you won't have to deal with them again. Actually, I'm very proud of you for sticking up for yourself, years ago you would have said, "Oh gee, September 26th will be fine." But, I swear, that Raleigh gets the job done!! Thanks for your hospitality, we LOVE your new home.
AGREED!!! Thanks for letting us crash on the couch and for the GREAT shower!
It was fun to see you guys for 5.3 minutes and I hope to get to do it again soon!
We too LOVE the new house...perfect for your new family!
Love and miss you
Welcome to Direct TV. We have had our share of problems with them also. Too bad TV seems to be such a necessity these days. If we all didn't NEED it so badly, those guys would be out of a job! I want to see pictures of the house since it will be a while before I can get up there!!!
